It's a whacky world out there! Let’s start with The Gulf of America!
I dig the name! Nothing wrong with a little patriotism. But I say we should go a little further and instruct the fish to sing “The Star Spangled Banner.” Also, we should tattoo all whales “America First!”
As for Kanye and his new swastika t-shirts. Yikes! As a Jew, yikes! But the worst thing he’s done is not that…it’s how much he charges for Yeezys! 1800$ for purple and green clown clods….no! Stop Kanye! You’re out of control!
Finally, there is Trump’s new Gold Card proposal. He wants a Gold Card that costs 5 million dollars and will be a way for immigrants to obtain a fast-track to citizenship. This is very Trumpian. He likes everything in gold…just look at Trump Towers. It will likely bring investment into the country which is cool and can help balance the budget and anyway I figure it will look cooler for gangsters to chop up lines of blow with a gold card then a green card, so I’m a fan.
But I digress. The main reason I came on here is to announce some news of my own, my fifth book, The Book of Outcasts, is finally officially published.
It includes fourteen stories about characters relegated to the fringe of society; characters just trying to survive challenging situations. You can order it today on Amazon, B&N, and other outlets in both paper and epub versions. Doing so would mean the world to me as would writing a review if possible!
The book touches on many contemporary topics. For instance, aliens are all over the news. They are covered in my book as well. For instance, in one story, an elderly gentlemen, the narrator’s uncle, shows up at his apartment and tells a wild abduction tale about being taken to the Planet Zenon where the aliens are are all lunatic cannibals. His nephew is quite skeptical about this tale but by the end of the story his uncle does something that changes his world view entirely.
Another big subject right now is the impact of advances in technology on our day-to-day life. Neuralink, Elon Musk’s company, is developing a brain implant to help those with Parkinson’s and other neurological disorders. This sounds noble in theory. But there are dangers. In the future it is quite likely that everyone will need these types of brain implants to compete in the workforce; implants that can be used for nefarious purposes.
In my story, “Get Your Implant!” I write about just such a world, a dystopian landscape where all but a few members of the populace are coerced into getting such an implant, an implant that is used for nefarious purposes, including mind control. So it is a situation with many parallels to the pandemic, particularly around the pressure put on citizens to get the vaccine.
There are many other stories in the book with parallels to our own world dealing with such subjects as media manipulation, artificial intelligence, simulacrum, and bribery and coercion. Certainly, there was a great deal of interest in my book at the recent Opelika Book Festival, where I sold books along with 70 other local authors at The Cooper Auditorium.
Finally, if you want a signed copy of "The Book of Outcasts," let me know and I will mail you one for a small additional fee (for shipping/handling).
Thanks again!
